Printing and
more so offset printing is a process of several steps which include, graphic
designs, plate making, actual job run and finishing which involves among
others, binding and cutting services.
Computer to Plate (CTP)
Printing
technology has over the years advanced. Once of the area that has experience
significant advancement is plate making process.
A couple of
years back for a press or printing would have required having a dark room for
developing plates and films. This was
followed by a process in which plates were made from ‘burning’ films in to a
plate and later wash manually using developing chemicals.
However, thing has
on changed with introduction of Computer to plate technology which has been
adopted by majoring of printing press companies in Kenya. Computer to plate
technology is loved by printing companies because it much more accurate on
colour and image registration, easier to make as compare to having to produce
films and again development using chemical.
Most of the CTP
machines are automated and has less labour required. Some of the printing
company in Kenya that as greatly used CTP include: Inkpaste Printers and Stationers, Aviq
printers, Ramco printing, Rodwell press among others.
